Stepping into the murky waters of MADvertising

I have been itching to start a blog about mobile advertising and advertising in India. There is just so much going on in both realms and I have finally found the starting point:

Having attended MobileCamp NYC, my 22-year-old brain is exploding with info. A very efficiently organized "unconference", the presenters and attendees list impressively ranged from small tech start-ups to Google.

Timo Arnall talked about the super cool RFID technology and the research being done around it. The "point and click" UI from a communication standpoint is very interesting, especially to see how people interact with the physical and mobile space. People in Norway were less comfortable interacting with posters on the sidewalk, as opposed to people in Japan, who are increasingly embracing this technology. On a side note, I have been doing some digging around on the sustainability issues surrounding these chips and there's no denying that it can do some serious damage to the environment, but as Timo said, he is more interested in finding efficient uses rather than promote the RFID tagging for the entire world! More digging required here...

Speaking of tagging, check out one of the organizers' extension of Wikipedia on mobile phones.

The dicussion turned to India with research done on mobile phone sharing. Stay tuned for more on this!
